Triptych panel: Dreams of Violence

The concept behind these Triptychs is to explore dreams. I dove into the world of surrealism which was influenced by the Freudian belief that dreams are segmented into three types; Death, Sex and Violence, each of which would represent a work in the triptych. I looked at art, music, literature and film to inspire me. I stayed up for three days straight to perfect these works and I loved every single minute of it!!!! The medium I used for all these panels are a for of collage. I either found pictures on the internet, or took my own, and using photoshop, twisted and changed them to suit my needs. Therefore, I can not entirely claim that the individual elements of these panels are my own but rather that the panels, their compositions, colours and so forth as a whole are my work

I use various concepts and personal views in each work, seen through the obscure looking glass of surrealism. Like surrealism, dreams are subjective and in my work, I make sure to instil my own meanings and metaphors while still allowing the viewer to find their own meaning. This can be seen by the symmetry of each work, allowing each panel to be arranged side by side in any order and still be connected.

With this particular triptych, I focused on the many ideas revolving around violence, specifically physical and mental self harm, murder, mass destruction and literary usages.
